We were asked by 'Grafisch Atelier Daglicht' to participate in the project 'Groot Grafiek'(Big Graphics). Daglicht is a great workplace for silkscreening and other printing technique's based in Eindhoven. Different artist and designers from Eindhoven and Rotterdam were invited to use the workshop during one year to experiment with their print making techniques. The only given fact was the format everybody had to work with; 120x160cm.
The outcomes were presented at CBK in Rotterdam and CBK De Krabbedans in Eindhoven.
Our starting-point during this work period was to reverse the structure of the printing process and investigate how this influences the different techniques. First we silkscreened the black layer, subsequently this layer is covered by different shades of white. Techniques that were used are among others intaglio, block printing, etching. The black basic images are referring to the title, in a sense that they try to approach the line when something is absent or still present. As a result 17 different layers are printed on 120x160cm in different structures and surfaces.
