The Design Academy Eindhoven set up a collaboration between Italian textile companies from Como / Italy with a selection of former graduates. We were invited to team up with Seterie Argenti, a family business that is specialised in digital printing on textiles. Since they have a rich history in the textile industry, they created a huge archive of prints and fabrics, including works for international fashion labels. We questioned ourselves how to contribute a proper interpretation to such a rich history. A selection of prints taken from the archive form the base of a layered textile to create a new image with the old prints. The newly designed layers are composed of geometrical, colorful dessins, that getting more dense after 64 cm. Every new repeat adds another layer till the lowest layer gets almost totally covered. The end results were presented during the textile weekend ComOn at Villa del Grumello in Como, october 2008.
